Description In which Seulgi is the doomed and unlucky lover who always gets left behind until her three exes decide to come back in her life at the same time. No romance intended, of course. Hence, the beginning of chaos.
Jamais deux sans trois
The Mere Human
In her 24 years of existence, Kang Seulgi has dated three men who made her who she is now: an introverted loser without self-confidence along with a ridiculous fear of men. Although she can boast about her professional life as a young creative director in one of the most important magazines of Korea, everybody knows that her love life is terrible. Indeed, Seulgi dated (for a short time unfortunately) three unpredictable men who ended up dumping her for different reasons that still make no sense to her up to this day.
The Three Horsemen
Kim Jongin is Seulgi’s ex-childhood friend on whom she had a crush on since forever but who never returned her feelings until hiscrush broke his heart. Seulgi kinda knew she was only a rebound girl but she couldn’t let the chance pass when it was right in front of her. So she confessed, they somehow dated, she loved him way more than he did and he felt bad so he broke up with her at the end of their sophomore year in high school. It lasted a big fat 4 months. Seulgi spent the rest of her high school days avoiding him and it wasn’t so hard because he was too preoccupied being sad over his last love. A mess.
Oh Sehun was there when Seulgi confessed to Jongin and he was also there to see her cry after he broke her heart. He made a move on her after the three hours he spent comforting her and she said yesalthough she should have known better. Sehun got her first kiss, her trust and her last year of high school as well as the whole summer before college so he decided he had stolen enough to put an end to their relationship with a cold text message before moving on to Joohyun, an older dreadfully beautiful student at his university. Seulgi was disappointed but not surprised, it was another failure.
Byun Baekhyun is Seulgi's older brother's best friend who was a music major at her university and who liked to hang out at her house a bit too much when they met. She had always found him very funny and cute but also manly because of his raspy voice but that was it. He had the ideal oppanext door image and treated her like his own little sister until Chanyeol (the dumb brother) thought it was funny to expose her desperate love life during dinner after an extra can of beer that he couldn’t handle and somehow, Seulgi and Baekhyun started dating a bit later after meeting more often. Baekhyun was the first man who truly made her happy and she somehow felt cherished if not loved for the 9 months it lasted. Of course, the curse had yet to be lifted so he put an end to their relationship the day he graduated university with a cheap “it’s not you, it’s me” and a pat on the back.
That day, Seulgi cried herself to sleep while convincing herself that there was nothing wrong with growing old alone with cats. Anyway, she wouldn’t die a virgin.
* “Jamais deux sans trois” is a proverb we use in French to say something that has happened twice will necessarily happen a third time. If I were to find an equivalent in English, it would be "twice needs a third" or something like that. I personally don’t believe in this but Seulgi did mess up thrice so jokes on her lol
**I know there are supposed to be four horsemen but there's a limit to how many exes I can push on her. Let Seulgi be the fourth.
A/N: I always thought of making a Seulhun centered fanfic (and I WILL just wait) but my Seulkai bias is following me everywhere so I had to include my bby Jongin. As for Baekhyun, well hmm, I don't know, Baekseul has been growing on me lately so pardon me for that crackship that nobody likes.
The foreword is pretty long but I had to introduce the horsemen and their story before starting because Thatyes was kinda the prologue *awkward laugh*. Seulgi is miserable and I’ll try to keep this as realistic as possible so it’s not because there are three gorgeous men coming back into her life that she mustend with one of them (huhum we’ll see how it goes).
They did her dirty, a girl needs to love herself too. Althought the beginning might look [a tiny bit] angsty this is mainly fluff. Do not expect another heartbreak or tears at every chapter, Seulgi is done crying and she won’t let any of them treat her like dirt a second time. It’s time for women empowerment ladies.
