Pairing: Seulhun [Seulgi and Sehun]
Concept: HighSchool!Au [Completed] "Seulgi, he's waiting for you outside of the class again." "Who?" Seulgi asked as she was finishing packing her bag with the notebooks she would need to do her homework. "What do you mean who," Sooyoung laughed before nudging Seulgi. "Your boyfriend of course." An almost imperceptible shade of pink appeared on Seulgi's cheeks and a soft smile grazed her lips. How could she forget about him? Seulgi somehow always forgot she was dating now since she had spent all her life alone before that and she wasn't exactly used to it. Nevertheless, having a boyfriend made her happy. "Thanks," Seulgi smiled before zipping up her bag. "Look at her being all giddy," Wendy laughed from the side. "You two are gross." "I want a boyfriend too," Sooyoung whined. "Why is there no one waiting for me after school everyday?" Where is mySehun?" "How did you get him, Seulgi?" Wendy seriously asked. "I don't know," Seulgi shrugged. "It just happened." "Just happened you say?" Wendy incredulously repeated. "Yeah right, just say you don't want to give us the secret," Sooyoung scoffed. Seulgi smiled again. Didn't they have the same conversation every single time? "I have to go but you can always check on his friends, I bet they would be your type," Seulgi said to Sooyoung before sprinting out of the room. "Bye!" she waved one last time. As she walked to the corridor, Seulgi saw Sehun's large back a few meters away waiting for her. He was already wearing his coat and was holding his backpack on one shoulder. He looks amazing without doing anything, this makes no sense,Seulgi thought. Really, how did she get a boyfriend like him, she had no idea. What made even less sense is that he was the one who confessed to her on Valentine's day last month. Secret? Seulgi didn't have any. She wished she knew what a good looking guy with many friends like Sehun was doing with her too. Not that she wasn't pretty or anything, she just wondered what he thought was so special about her to ask her out when they barely knew each other. Sure, they had some friends in common and she had been in three of his classes last year but really, Seulgi didn't feel like she stood out enough to get his attention. She walked until she reached him and poked his arm. Sehun turned around and grinned as she responded with a bright smile. "What took you so long?" he asked before handing out his hand. "I was talking with Wendy and Sooyoung," she answered before shaking her head. "It's not heavy, I'll carry it today." "It's fine," Sehun said before taking her backpack."It's better if it's not heavy." Seulgi always noted the little actions Sehun did that made him the perfect gentleman. He would always carry her backpack, walk on the side of the driveway to protect her, letting her pass first every time, opening the door for her, bringing a big umbrella for the both of them on rainy days and even going all the way to bring her home if it was dark outside although he lived in the other direction. Once again, they barely knew each other and he was so nice. They stepped outside the school's building and continued to walk silently side by side. It was in those moments of silence that Seulgi found interesting facts about her lover. Sehun was incredibly tall but he didn't feel intimidating at all. It was instead a reassuring feeling of protection that always warmed Seulgi when he was next to her. He also had a strange mix of a lazy and confident walk that made him look adorable but also alluring at the same time. "How was your day?" Seulgi risked after much hesitation. She couldn't help it, she wanted to hear his voice. Even though they had been together for about 4 weeks now, Seulgi and Sehun were still deeply into that awkward phase lovers have to face when they just start dating. The problem was that even though they saw each other everyday, Seulgi and Sehun hadn't made any progress during that time. It was hard to start a conversation and if they ever did, the conversation would die just as soon. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that their walk after school was the only time they spent together because they were in different classes and they didn't eat lunch together. "Great, just like any other day," he answered as he looked at her. "What about you?" "The usual," she said before biting her lip because she knew it was already over. None of them had anything else to add to that. Maybe something else would do the trick? Seulgi pretended to stumble a bit and let herself slightly fall into Sehun's arms. He quickly grabbed Seulgi to steady her and asked her if she was okay. He always had quick reflexes too, Oh Sehun was a whole package. "Are you sure you're okay?" "Yes, totally," Seulgi responded bashfully. "I just didn't see… that rock," she miserably lied even though there was absolutely nothing on the floor. Sehun nodded and let it go at that. He also let go of her arm and continued to walk at the same pace as if nothing happened And again, that was it. They were back onto that quiet, uneventful and steady routine where they had little to no interaction. This had to stop one way or another. "Sehun," Seulgi called after finally catching up with his long steps as she asked for her backpack. "I have to go somewhere." "Where? I'll come with you." "No its fine, it's a bit far and I don't want to bother you again." "You're not bothering me at all." "Really, it's fine," Seulgi terminated as she pushed up the straps of her backpack tightly onto her shoulders. "It would be an useless detour for you, you should go home. I'll see you tomorrow," Seulgi said as she ran off before he could insist again. Sehun stayed dumbfounded on the sidewalk as he watched his girlfriend literally run away from him with a frown. What was it this time? He shrugged but still continued to walk to the bus stop. He noticed Seulgi was going the opposite way of her house but didn't do anything about it. "Maybe she wants some time alone," Sehun thought out loud as he looked at his hand. "What a waste," he sighed. Today was the day he was supposed to try to hold her hand but he couldn't find the courage to once again. "Tomorrow for sure. I'll try tomorrow." As usual, Sehun tried to lift his spirits up after another failed attempt. He had stopped counting after all the times he said he would act like a real boyfriend but didn't because he was too shy or too scared to burn steps with Seulgi and make her feel uncomfortable. Sehun certainly didn't want to mess up after all the courage it took him to confess to his crush. On the other side, Seulgi had entered a convenience store and was now roaming the aisles looking for something special. Something that would make them talk more casually because of a shared interest. Something they both liked. She hesitated between ramen cups and chips but then she wasn't sure what flavor Sehun preferred. "Seafood or kimchi? Maybe original? What if he can't eat ramen? No, that was too risky," Seulgi said as she put down the cup. "Forget the chips," she shook her head. "If we ever do itI don't want our first kiss to taste like honey butter or onions." Seulgi continued to search for the right item as if it was a matter of life or death. Candies? There were too many options and she could easily be wrong about his taste. Popcorn? If something got stuck on her teeth she wouldn't be able to forget it no matter how much time passed. Canned coffee? Peanuts? Crackers? Juice? Chocopies? Tea? Seulgi was losing her mind. She saw a kid pick up some chocolate milk with a picture of Doraemona few meters away and that's when she remembered having seen Sehun drinking some in the past. "Of course!" she yelled. "Why didn't I think of this earlier?" Seulgi rushed to the dairy section and picked up two chocolate milk cartons with a grin. She shook her head and then put back one of them on the rack. "Strawberry milk for me," she giggled. /// She was prepared. She had practiced what she was going to say all night. Seulgi was now walking down to Sehun's classroom with both milk cartons in her hand, one pink and one brown, one for him and one for her. He would thank her for this kind gesture (maybe even pet her head who knows), smile at her and ask her if that was the thing she had to do yesterday and she she would admit it shyly saying "I would do anything for you." Or not, maybe that was a bit too much. She would let it go at the shy smile. Seulgi took a deep breath before opening the door of the classroom asking herself if she was doing the right thing. Whatever,*alea jacta estas her dramatic homeroom teacher would say. She scanned the room to find her lover but he wasn't so hard to find. Sehun was sitting at his desk in the center surrounded by his many (and loud) friends. She could recognize most if not all of them which made her feel a tiny bit more at ease for not being in a completely unfamiliar situation. Seulgi walked closer to where he was but the more steps she took and the more her resolution was leaving her. What am I even doing? Before she could decide to go back, a strong voice called her. "Oh Seulgi!" she heard Baekhyun yell after he put his fight with a guy she knew as Jongdae on pause. "What are you doing here?" "Me? Huh…" Seulgi froze when Sehun turned around after hearing her name. He looked at her curiously. "Nothing, just passing by." "Passing by?" Chanyeol laughed. "Just say you wanted to see your boyfieright here," he continued before blatantly pointing to Sehun who shyly looked down. As usual, Sehun's friends never made it easy for them to interact at school. And this was also why she avoided going to his classroom knowing what kind of childish reactions she would get from dumb and dumber and their friends. And boyfie, really? What the hell was a boyfie? "What is that?" Baekhyun asked as he snatched one of the milk cartons Seulgi was trying to hide behind her. Abort. Mission abort. "Don't tell me it's a couple stuff?" Baekhyun mocked. "Couple tee-shirts, couple bracelets and couple milk now? I'm actually grossed out." Seulgi blushed hard as she took the strawberry milk back from Baekhyun's hands. "It's none of your business." "It's for Sehun right?" Chanyeol asked before taking the chocolate milk from her hand. and putting it way above her head "Can't I have it instead?" "Come on Chanyeol give it back," Seulgi pleaded as she jumped to reach the tall man's hand. Obviously, she would never get there. "Please, I know Sehun wouldn't mind." "It's not for him!" Seulgi said out of annoyance after jumping for the third time without any result. "If it's not for him then who is it for?" Chanyeol looked at her suspiciously. He wasn't believing it one bit. "A friend," Seulgi lied. "Now give it back." Seulgi figured she could still give it to Sehun after school. "It's not good to lie, Seulgi," Baekhyun grinned. "Just say you wanted to have some cute couple item with your boyfriendand we'll stop." Seulgi glanced at Sehun and she blushed at the way he was just staring back at her expressionlessly. She honestly just wanted to dig a hole and die right there at this point. Literally nothingwas going her way. "It is for a friend." "We knowyour friends Seulgi, enough with this and just admit it." "I have nothing to admit because it is the truth." "Fine then who is it? I'll go ask that friend if I can have it," Chanyeol said, his hand still way up in the air. Why weren't they letting it go at that? Seulgi really couldn't grasp why they cared so much and was really coming to her limit. "You don't know him, now enough," she groaned. "Him?" she heard Baekhyun say. "Him? What him?" Chanyeol repeated. "You're really going to give couple milk cartons to your male friend?" Dumb and dumber indeed. "Can you give it back now Chanyeol?" Seulgi impatiently said. "Are you dumping Sehun?" Chanyeol frowned. "What are you talking about—" Before she could really take off Chanyeol's head out of his annoyingly huge body for saying something so stupid right in front of Sehun, the man in question stood up with a sigh. This whole comedy had been going on for too long. "She already said it's for a friend, leave her alone," Sehun said before easily taking back the chocolate milk carton from Chaneyo's hand. "Here," he said as he handed it back to Seulgi. Seulgi almost wanted to tear up. Sehun was indeed the perfect boyfriend. He was so nice and such a good person. Seulgi smiled at him for this kind gesture but he didn't show any sign of a smile and simply let the milk carton gently rest on her palm before returning back to his place. Take it, it's for you. She really wanted to say it but Sehun's attention was now back to his other friends who continued to talk just like before she came into the room. Seulgi sighed and turned around to leave. It was a fail, a major fail. She walked back to her own classroom and let her head fall helplessly onto her cold desk. "What's wrong with you?" Seulgi heard Wendy say as she walked to her. "Love problems?" "I don't want to talk about it," Seulgi mumbled before taking out two straws. "Are you going to drink both of them?" Wendy asked eagerly as she pointed to the milk cartons. "I love chocolate milk." "It's for a friend" Seulgi sighed. Nevertheless, Seulgi started drinking on the chocolate milk with a sullen expression while Wendy hit her arm for openly lying like this. "But it was indeed for an important friend," Seulgi tried to defend herself. "But I failed to deliver my message." // "Seulgi, Sehun is waiting for you outside," Sooyung let her know again with the same knowing smile. Seulgi felt her heart's pulse going up as if her heart itself wanted to come out. "A-alright, thank you," she stuttered before zipping up her backpack. Seulgi walked out of the classroom with heavy steps. She looked up to see Sehun standing at his usual spot waiting for her with his usual expressionless face. Normally, he would smile when he sees her, but this time he simply acknowledged her with a nod before handing out his hand to take her backpack. "It's fine, you don't have to," Seulgi said. "You are not burdening me at all, I'm the one who wants to," Sehun insisted as he took a step closer to take her bag. "No really, Sehun, it's fine," Seulgi said as she started walking. "We should get going." Sehun frowned but wasted no time in following her quick and small steps. She seemed nervous. They walked in the same silence they had all the time but this time it felt especially tensed and awkward. Seulgi was continuously fidgeting with her hands while Sehun couldn't help but notice how she slowed her pace every time she hesitated to say something. "Did your friend like the milk?" he asked when he saw Seulgi couldn't find the will to say what she wanted to say. Maybe it would help her relax. "Huh?" she turned to face him. "Yes, I think he liked it. "That was nice of you," Sehun said with a soft smile although it had bothered him earlier. He was (almost) over it now. "I suppose," Seulgi mumbled distractedly. Sehun wondered if it was the right time to finally take her hand but she seemed so out of it that he didn't think she would even notice. A bit later, he would try again he decided. "S-Sehun," Seulgi called as she stopped in her tracks. There it was, she was finally going to say what she wanted to say. Sehun turned back to face her and stopped walking just as soon. Seulgi looked even more uneasy. "Let's break up." Sehun deeply frowned. "What?" "I said let's break up," Seulgi repeated a lot less confidently than 10 seconds ago. "Why?" Sehun almost protested. "Is it because of what my friends did to you during lunch? I'm sorry for their behavior I didn't think they would go this far." "No it's not because of that, of course I know your friends have nothing to do with you and you shouldn't apologize for that," Seulgi tried to explain. "Then why?" Sehun marched up to her and that's when Seulgi realized how tall Sehun truly was. This was probably the closest they had been to each other since the beginning and she was unfotunately noticing it now that they were breaking up. "Then, do… do you really like someone else?" "No! I wouldn't dare," Seulgi answered. "It's just… I don't know." "What? Tell me Seulgi." Seulgi eyed him carefully. Should she do it? She never thought she would have come to this point. "Do you even really like me at all Sehun?" she finally said. "I don't mean to sound like a clinging girlfriend or a possessive woman or anything because I am not and I hope you know that even if we break up today," she rambled. "Come to the point Seulgi," Sehun said with his unwavering gaze on her. "I just feel like I'm the only one making efforts," she blushed. "You don't try anything with me and it's not like I am your first girlfriend because I know I'm not, Wendy said so." Seulgi quickly explained. "You don't hold my hand, we barely talk if I'm not the one making the first step, you never come see me in my classroom even if it would be a lot easier for the both of us, you don't text me although I gave you my number ages ago and we can't talk about anything else but school. It's been a month and I don't even know what is your favorite color." Seulgi continued to list out the worries she had been bottling up for a few weeks now under Sehun's serious gaze. "It's been a month and we made no progress," Seulgi sighed. "I tried to shake off the thought that you didn't like me but all these things kept bothering me and… there's also this rumor that you confessed to me because someone else forced you to for a bet, and although I do believe you are a better person than that, I don't know anymore." Seulgi continued. She couldn't believe she was really telling him all this, especially right when they were ending things. What a bad timing. "I honestly thought of making it easier for you by asking you to break up with me—" Sehun hunched closer and tightly clasped his lips with Seulgi's in a swift motion. He brought her even closer by holding her waist and started nibbling on her lower lip as a thousand lightning bolts shook Seulgi up. She felt his lips curve up into a small smile before parting ways, his soft lips still grazing hers. He quickly pecked her on the mouth one last time before letting go. "But maybe I don't want to break up," Seulgi finished as she shyly looked up to see Sehun smiling at her. "I wasn't done," she bashfully said. "Then do you officially want to break up because I can't force you to stay with me," Sehun said as his thumb caressed her cheek. "I never wanted to," Seulgi confessed. "I just thought I was doing you a favor by asking it." "Thank God," Sehun let out a relieved sigh. "I thought you were serious for a second," he smiled. "You shouldn't joke about serious things Seulgi." He shook his head and Seulgi wondered if she was finally losing it. All she wanted was to talk with him over some milk and now they had their first kiss. Sehun took her hand and gladly answered back when she decided to intertwined them. They continued to walk like they normally would but this time they were obviously in a different mood: they were a real couple. A few meters further down the street, Sehun finally decided to voice out the thought that had been bothering him for minutes now. "Did you have chocolate milk Seulgi?" Sehun asked with an arched eyebrow. "Me? I'm more of a strawberry milk person," she answered with a giggle.
