Pairing: Seulkai[Seulgi and Jongin]
Concept: College!Au [Completed] There she goes in all her glory. He spots her in a millisecond as if he had been waiting for her all night. Well, to be fair he hadbeen looking at the door for quite a while even before she stepped in, wondering when he would finally get to go back home. This party was boring and he wished he hadn't come. If he could, Jongin would have stayed home to finish another novel for his next Monday lecture. Yes, he was a nerd and no, he couldn't let others know now that he was considered the Itboy. He doesn't know how that happened but when college started, people started flocking around Sehun naturally because of his handsome looks but the boy was so not interested that he just as smoothly rejected his "fans" and possible friends by refusing to do the bare minimum to keep up the conversation whenever they talked to him. "They're superficial, I don't need fake people around me," he said to Jongin. Who didn't know that Sehun was all about loyalty anyway? Eventually, the same people who went to Sehun for self-gratification by hanging out with good looking people went to him and being the sweetheart and polite young introverted and handsome nerd he was, Jongin simply couldn't find the resolution to be rudeto them. Being the "It" boy brought more than just fame and many friends. It gave Jongin responsibilities and headaches. It meant to pretend to enjoy having an eventful social life, to act like you cared more than you really did about other people's life and more than anything, being fun to be around all the time, whatever that what supposed to be. Thankfully for him, Jongin didn't have to try to be funny or to make girls swoon. It was natural. Whatever. Nobody cared about how he got his popularity, he was popular that's it. Onto more important things: her. So there she was in all glory fully dressed in black, standing by the door frame with a bored expression and her arms crossed on her chest while looking around to witness the mess that was this welcoming party. Same, he thought. Jongin finally decided to go for it. He made his way to her, slowly but surely as he was mentally preparing himself for the usual self-embarrassment and self-destruction that was about to take place soon. "Hey," he said to get her attention with a slightly awkward wave. It was as awkward as it could be and Jongin could feel it all the way to his bones. She turned around to face him slowly, almost languorously before breaking into a soft smile. This same smile turned into a smirk and then became a smug. There it is, the mocking. "Hey," she said back on a light and friendly tone. He wasn't about to be fooled, he knew better. "Still in that emo phase I see." "Still a bitch I see." Her smile faded. They stayed there glaring at each other for a while before she sighed and unfolded her arms to let them fall helplessly beside her. The walls were down. The field is clear. "You look beautiful," Jongin said before he could notice his slip. He probably hesitated a bit to say it but did it anyway because she was just so stunning. "You don't look too bad yourself, 'It' boy." It was always like that. There was this strange zone where friendship and enmity coexisted which allowed them to tease each other constantly. That's what happens when one of your closest friends becomes your ex. "Will you stop calling me like that?" he grimaced before leaning closer to her to let another drunk boy pass through. "Isn't that what you are?" Seulgi said as she took a step back. No that's not what he was and she knew it. Seulgi always found funny how Jongin of all people turned out to be the main center of attention at their university by doing absolutely nothing. She knew how much of an introvert he was. "Why are you here anyway? That's not your typical Friday night schedule," he said before putting his hands into his pockets. "Me? I'm here because of Seungwan," she answered with a shrug. "She bet I would want to stay for the night if I went through 10 minutes of any Chanyeol's welcoming party." "And is Seugnwan about to win the bet or—" "I am winning of course, do you really think I would stay for the night? MeJongin?" Seulgi emphasized to show her surprise. "No you wouldn't," he said before suppressing a smile. "Who isChanyeol by the way? I keep hearing his name but I still have no idea of who he is," she asked. "You see the tall and lean guy dancing weirdly in the centre? That's him," Jongin let her know with a chuckle. She was totally unaware of the popular ones at their school and that was no surprise considered that she was even more unbothered by the stupid hierarchy imposed on them by the other popular jocks. "What did the two of you bet on for a haughty lady like you to come waste your time in this mess?" "Cookies," Seulgi answered as her eyes started to gleam in the dark room even if her chic lady façade was still on. "She said she would make me cookies for three weeks if I came, so I did. That was so worth it, thinking of it now. I just have to stand by the door and wait until time's over before scurrying back home. It's only ten minutes." "You had other plans?" he asked carefully. "Well, I wanted to watch the rerun of Goblinbefore the next episode comes out under a warm blanket with some ice cream but I guess that'll have to wait." "That's so you," he chuckled. "Thank you I guess?" Seulgi softly giggled. "Is that even a compliment?" "Trust me it was," Jongin replied as he relaxed. He was slowly but surely getting on her softer side and she was opening up. Friendly mode: on."How long have you been here?" Seulgi frowned. Okay, no not yet. He might have to turn it off for now. "Are you gonna pretend you didn't see me come in 3 minutes ago? And what's with all those questions? Are you trying to have a conversation with me right now?" Seulgi asked baffled. Boom. Jongin landed on a mine. "Yes I'm trying to have a conversation with you, what's wrong with that?" he frowned too. "Am I overanalyzing things or do you care?" Seulgi faked a gasp. "That's so out of character Jongin, please get a grip on yourself." He sighed. Don't fall for it, she's just playing with you. That was Seulgi's way to show Jongin that she appreciated him. "And you? What were your plans?" she asked nonchalantly while distantly eyeing the box full of chocolate on the snack bar in the kitchen. She slightly pursed her lips and decided that she wasn't going to risk a headache for a few candies because only God knew what really contained these little golden packets even if it was written "chocolate" on top. He eyed her suspiciously. "Now you care?" "I still have 6 minutes to waste," she shrugged with the hint of a smile. Whatever, Jongin thought. It's not like he could say no to her anyways. "I wanted to read." "That's so you," she laughed. "And what were you going to read? Keigo Higashino? Do you still have that book I bought for your birthday? Do you still like psychological thrillers?" "Too many questions," he chuckled as she blushed. "Yes I still have your book, no it's not a Keigo Higashino novel , it's for a class so I didn't get to choose and yes I still like thrillers." Seulgi silently nodded. She thought to be wiser to remain quiet than to go with a sly remark or another teasing. She looked at the time again and realized she still had four whole minutes left. "Time does go by slowly," she thought out loud. "That's because you're bored," he told her. "And because you don't want to be here." "Honestly I would like to be anywhere else but here," she confessed as a drunkard she recognized as a boy from her English Literature class passed near her and gave her a smug look. Ew. Jongin hesitated a bit and fiddled with his hands as he couldn't stay put. Should he do it? He would either try or die trying, it couldn't be so bad. "Can you give me a minute? I'll be back in no time," he said anxiously. "I stil have threeminutes to go Jongin," she laughed. "Take your time, I'm not leaving." "Good," he smiled. "You can't leave, I'm serious." Seulgi looked at him with curiosity but she looked more puzzled than anything. "Sure," she agreed. Jongin rushed all the way to the dance floor and fought his way to pass between many people and nudged Chanyeol to grasp his attention. "I'm leaving," he said quickly, not bothering to even check if the older male could hear him over the loud music. "What? Why? I thought you were having fun?" Chanyeol yelled because he was starting to go deaf for staying too close to the speakers for too long. "I have other plans." "Oh you're leaving with a girl? That's a first," Chanyeol amusedly cooed. "Not exactly our first time but you can say so," Jongin said with a cheeky smile before patting Chanyol on the shoulder and going back to where he really belonged. He pushed aside the same people who were blocking his way earlier and walked to Seulgi who was obviously still debating whether or not to give in to her craving for those sinful chocolates and get herself a few before leaving this annoying place. Her eyes landed on Jongin and she didn't even try to hide her surprise. "I don't think it has been over a minute, you were fast," she said while checking her watch. "It felt too long," he admitted before taking her by the wrist. "This whole party felt too long." "What are you doing Jongin?" Seulgi asked him as he lead her outside. "I think I still have 2 minutes to go." "We're leaving," he answered quickly while trying to find his car's keys in his jeans' back pocket. "W-why? I mean to go where anyway it's late," she slightly stuttered. "To save you from this chaos." "But I only need to last two more minutes," she said before pulling him back inside. "There's a black and white European movie playing at the cine-park tonight and it starts in about 6 minutes," Jongin let her know. "We can make it in time if we go now Seul," he said to tempt her. That was totally the kind of artistic thing that marveled her. "With yellow subtitles," he added fully knowing how much she hated the white ones because she couldn't really read the words with her bad eye sight. "And I'll drive." She pursed her lips as she looked around the overly packed room with sweaty people dancing their stressful college week away or kissing other people they barely knew. "But my cookies…" she faintly said. "I'll buy them for you," Jongin finally gave in when he realized what was making her hesitate so much. "But Wendy's are homemade." "Would you really let me step in a kitchen Seul?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. Seulgi eyed him for a bit before giving up. Wouldn't she be totally crazy to refuse such an offer from the "It" boy Kim Jongin that every girl on the campus was fantasizing about? "I'll have ice cream instead," she said with a sigh as he let go of her wrist to hold her hand instead. Jongin lead Seulgi outside with a wide grin that he couldn't hide even if he wanted to. "And I only accept if it comes with sprinkles. I want tons of sprinkles." "Anything you want," he smiled.
